Athena Coalition

The Athena Coalition is a welcoming community where women, women-identifying, and non-binary professionals connect, support each other, and share their personal and professional journeys.

Membership in the Athena Coalition comes through personal invitation from current members.

-Trust builds safety, so each new member needs someone to vouch for them. Once nominated, you'll share what draws you to our community and agree to our values and community guidelines.

-We ask that you use caution when mentioning the Athena Coalition to colleagues or in conversation so you aren’t asked to invite someone you can’t comfortably vouch for.

MEMBERS

Our members share two core values:

-We Champion Equity: We're feminists who stand for human rights and against all forms of systemic oppression. We recognize how gender intersects with race, class, disability, and LGBTQ+ identities, creating spaces for support and action. While political discussions are optional, our commitment to equity isn't.

-We Value Growth: Whether leading companies, launching ventures, caregiving, or charting new paths, we support each other's professional journey. All industries and career stages are welcomed and celebrated.

COMMUNITY PLEDGE

CODE OF CONDUCT

-Unrestrained negativity harms the community. Consider using designated rage/venting channels to keep general channels more positive.

-Harassment of members in or outside the community is grounds for immediate removal.

--We define harassment as: Discriminatory comments or behavior, intimidation or stalking, unwelcome attention or contact, and disruptive behavior.

--Members accused of harassment will be privately asked to stop by an admin and receive one warning before removal.

-Concerns about other members will be addressed with your nominating member and escalated to an admin, who will reset the relationship or ask the member to leave.

-To protect the community, social justice/mutual aid organizing should not happen in Slack and instead move to a secure, encrypted platform such as Signal (with modifications).

2)Isn’t looking to exclude any group or individual intentionally

3)You agree to the purpose, members, and community pledge listed above.
